OUR BARILOCHE JOURNEY

Bariloche… A magical place in the heart of Patagonia, where mountains reach toward the sky, lakes shine like mirrors and every step leads you into a new discovery. For us, this Bariloche Patagonia Journey was not an ordinary vacation; it was the beginning of a special trip that left deep marks on our souls, warmed our hearts and added color to our lives.

Özcan arrived by car, while Beni arrived by plane, and this meeting opened the door to an unforgettable story in Patagonia. The excitement we felt from the very first moment grew even stronger in the following days of the journey and added new emotions to our hearts.

The weather was cold, but inside we felt warm. The city center offered a magical atmosphere with its Swiss-style wooden houses, streets smelling of chocolate and walking paths along the lake. Bariloche’s nature invited us to stop, think, take a deep breath and look around. The mountains seemed to silently say, “welcome.”

The dazzling blue of Lake Nahuel Huapi and the light coolness of the wind wrapped around us from the very beginning. Patagonia’s wild yet peaceful spirit managed to pull us in right away.

Then we walked toward the shore and reached the famous “BARILOCHE” sign. Behind us was the blue of the lake, in our hair the wind, and on our faces a huge smile… We immortalized that moment. The photo was not just an image; we felt the excitement, happiness and calmness of that moment inside us.

From the very first day, Bariloche managed to offer us romance, fun and peace all at once. In that moment, we understood that every step we would take in Patagonia would become part of a bigger story. This Bariloche Patagonia Journey became the first stop that set the tone for the rest of our trip.

A House at the Foot of the Mountains The Peace That Began in an Airbnb

When we arrived in Bariloche, our first stop was a beautiful two-story house built on a scenic hill in the upper neighborhoods.
The ground floor was ours; warm, quiet and surrounded by the deep silence of Patagonia.

Even the air that entered when we opened the windows smelled different…
Cold but fresh, sharp but peaceful.
It was as if the mountains were leaving their breath in our room.

This house became the silent witness of our time in Bariloche.
Waking up to the view in the mornings, returning home tired but happy in the evenings…
Every moment was special, every moment was something we felt deep inside.

Land of Lakes Getting Lost in Bariloche’s Blues

Bariloche was not just a city; it felt like a place where dozens of lakes, hundreds of trails and thousands of views came together and turned into one single state of mind.

On every route, we came across:

  • the vast Lake Nahuel Huapi,
  • winding lakeside walking paths,
  • clouds dancing over still water,
  • landscapes painted by the hills between shadow and light

and each time, they forced us to stop and simply look.

We walked and walked…
Sometimes silently, sometimes laughing, sometimes without saying anything, just listening to the view.

Time flowed differently in Bariloche.
The hours did not pass; moments simply gathered.

Villa La Angostura The Town of Elegance Calmness and Laughter

During our Bariloche Patagonia Journey, while exploring the surroundings of Bariloche, our road led us to Villa La Angostura, one of Patagonia’s most elegant towns.
As we approached the town, the roads became greener, the houses more stylish and the atmosphere more peaceful.
Everything was slow, orderly and filled with a delicate care…
Like a small fairy-tale village hidden inside Patagonia.

As we walked through its streets, the smell of wooden houses, the colors of flower-filled gardens and the silence of the mountains surrounded us.
Every corner of the town whispered, “Life is a little more beautiful here.”

And then, suddenly, we found ourselves in a luxury restaurant.
Its windows looked out over the lake, the tables were perfect, even the steps of the waiters were silent.
Before our eyes, elegance, calmness and beauty came together in a single painting.

At that exact moment, our classic little game began:
“Let’s pretend we’re rich for a while!”
We laughed so much that tears came to our eyes.
Maybe this was a place visited by very wealthy people…
But in that moment, we too were the heroes of this story.

This moment in Villa La Angostura became one of the warmest, funniest and lightest memories of our journey.
Because sometimes the most beautiful memories are the ones where you laugh the most; those laughs stayed with us throughout the entire Bariloche Patagonia Journey.
When Beni’s smile met Özcan’s eyes, this little town gave the journey a special meaning.

Colonia Suiza The Warmth of a European Village in Patagonia

As we moved through Patagonia’s wild nature, our next stop was Colonia Suiza.
Its name had already sparked our curiosity; when we saw it, it enchanted us from the very first step.

As we moved away from Bariloche, the roads became narrower, the mountains rose higher and suddenly wooden houses appeared before us,
as if they had been taken from Europe and placed in the heart of Patagonia.
Colorful shutters, flower-filled gardens, stone streets and a quiet square…
It felt as if we were walking through a village in the Swiss Alps.

It was touristy, but the crowd was not overwhelming;
everyone was wandering at their own pace, looking at stalls, taking photos, yet there was still calmness in the air.

On the wooden stalls:

  • homemade jams,
  • hand-carved wooden pieces,
  • woven handicrafts,
  • small sweets and local snacks

were laid out as little details that made us smile.

And then we found ourselves in the middle of the square, in a lively area where music was rising.
A small stage had been set up in one corner; guitar sounds, laughter and footsteps mixed together, and people moved with the rhythm.

We sat at an empty table in the middle of that energy.
While sipping our cold beers, we listened to the songs on stage and watched the Patagonian breeze blend with the joy of the people dancing.
As the sun withdrew behind the mountains, the warmth of the atmosphere grew, and the village came even more alive with the music.

Colonia Suiza added an unexpectedly joyful, warm and European-scented color to our journey.
This little village, where Patagonia’s powerful nature and European nostalgia meet in the same square, earned a special place in our memory.

Cerro Otto The Road to the Sky Daylight and the Heart of Adventure

Coming to Bariloche and not going up to Cerro Otto was unthinkable.
The moment we stepped into the cable car, the cabin slowly began to rise…
The city grew smaller, the lake widened, and the mountains grew larger under the sun.
Every meter felt like a new postcard lit by the brightness of pure air.

When we reached the summit, Patagonia’s fresh, clean and clear daytime air welcomed us.
But just behind it, there was a completely different energy:
a small adventure park with an elevated platform, a climbing wall and a zipline.

The wind blew more vividly at the summit, showing the sharp lines of the mountains more clearly and increasing the excitement in the air.

As she looked toward the zipline, a familiar spark appeared in Beni’s eyes:
a childlike curiosity, an adult courage and a pure desire to fly
She smiled and walked toward it.

They put on her helmet, fastened the harnesses, and the guide made the final checks.
Then she paused for a few seconds… took a deep breath… and let herself go into the air.

Suddenly, she began gliding quickly along the cable.
The wind passed over her shoulders, Patagonia stretched beneath her feet,
the shadows of the mountains fell on the ground, and the sky stood above her like a bright blue ceiling.

Her laughter — the sound of that freedom — spread across the hill.
As I watched her, I felt an indescribable happiness that warmed the soul.
When Beni reached the landing point, she was still smiling; the joy on her face had spread across the entire hill.

Daytime View at the Rotating Restaurant

After the adventure, we sat at the panoramic restaurant outside the rotating restaurant
to rest and enjoy the view.

The sun was shining above, the lake glittered deep blue, and the lines of the mountains looked like a clear painting.
While eating, the coolness of the wind, the clarity of daylight and the silence of the summit accompanied us.

Daytime in Patagonia refreshes the heart in a different way:
the same view looked both powerful and peaceful.

After the meal, our steps led us to the place we were most curious about on the hill:
Bariloche’s rotating restaurant.

There was a small line at the door.
But even waiting was beautiful; because the sun was right above us, the sky was deep blue,
and Bariloche was spread below us in all its detail.

In Patagonia, even waiting teaches you not patience, but peace.
We were in no hurry.

When our turn came, we entered through the restaurant door.

As soon as we sat at our table, we felt a light vibration…
The restaurant had started to turn — with a gentle, silent and rhythmic motion.

With every turn, the view changed,
and in the bright light of day, every detail became clearer:

  • the blue of Lake Nahuel Huapi shining with light,
  • the sharp, clear and impressive silhouette of the mountain peaks,
  • the lively green of the forests,
  • the winding roads of the city under the clarity of daylight…

As the restaurant turned, Bariloche flowed before us like a painting.
Our eyes could catch every detail, because the sun made everything more real, more vivid and closer.

To make that moment even more beautiful, we drank something light.
Even the reflection in our glasses was the same shade as the blue of the lake.

Cerro Otto did not just offer us a view;
for a few hours, it slowed the world down.

The excitement of the zipline,
the peace of a daytime meal with a view,
the calm rhythm of the rotating restaurant…

All of it came together and turned into one feeling:

At the top of Bariloche, under the sun,
the peace of being with the right person at the right moment.

In summary, this Bariloche Patagonia Journey became one of the most special stops in our road story, from walks along Lake Nahuel Huapi to European-inspired villages such as Villa La Angostura and Colonia Suiza, from the adventures at the top of Cerro Otto to the calm minutes we spent in the rotating restaurant.
